Powerball has rolled over for another week after jackpotting to a tremendous $30m on Saturday.

On Wednesday $34m will be up for grabs.

“High jackpots capture the imagination of Kiwis all around the country and we know Kiwis will be dreaming about what they would do if they won $34m with Powerball on Wednesday,” said Marie Winfield, head of communications at Lotto New Zealand.

“We’re expecting Lotto stores around the country to be busy, so players should get in early to make sure they’re in to win.”

The winning numbers on Saturday were 22, 24, 34, 16, 31, 7, with the bonus ball of 20. The Powerball number was 2.

Two Lotto players who bought tickets from Pukekohe and Christchurch have won $500,000 each.

The winning tickets were sold at New World Pukekohe, and Fresh Choice Edgeware in Christchurch.

People who acquire sudden wealth, whether from a divorce settlement, a lottery win, or selling a farm or other business, can find it hard to cope, depending on which 'money personality' they have.

Strike Four was also won by two players in Tauranga and Otago, who won $250,000 each. The winning Strike tickets were sold at AJ’s Lotto in Tauranga and on MyLotto.

Anyone who bought their ticket from the named stores should check their ticket immediately.

The $30m jackpot coincided with Lotto celebrating being in operation for 33 years.

The largest ever Powerball prize was won in November 2016 by a Hibiscus Coast couple, who took home a life-changing sum of $44.1m. Financial adviser Nick Crawford, author of Sudden Money and How to Handle It, says once euphoria wears off people can feel anxiety, loneliness, confusion and even guilt.

A Lotto spokesperson said the most common thing New Zealanders said they would spend any big win on was buying a house or paying off the mortgage.
