Foxton Beach residents victims of fatal SH1 motorcycle crash near Levin

The two people killed after a crash between a motorcycle and car on State Highway 1 near Levin have been named as Karen and Franciscus​ Slobbe.​

Police confirmed the pair, aged 59 and 60, respectively, of Foxton Beach, were killed when the motorcycle they were on collided with a car on Wednesday at Manakau.

The crash, between Whakahoro​ and Kuku East roads at about 5.35am, closed SH1 for several hours.

The Slobbes​ died at the scene.

According to death notices, their funeral is being held on Monday at 11am at the Foxton RSA.

Police said they were continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
