Lotto’s whopping $45 million jackpot: Tell us what you’d spend it on
Friday, 7 November 2025
We first published this last week, but the top prize wasn’t won. So let’s keep dreaming collectively. Tell us what you’d do below.
Lotto’s Powerball jackpot has reached a staggering $45 million.
The mouth-watering prize is the largest so far in 2025.
We’ve all dreamed about what we’d do if we won the lottery: Who we’d tell, whether we’d quit our jobs and who we’d share it with.
Recently, when the prize reached $33m, we thought we’d help the potential winner out with a list of luxuries on the market right now, including a lakefront property in Queenstown, a rare green racing car, a Rolex, a Birkin bag and a truck load of butter.
Ahead of the draw we want to know what you’d spend the money on should you find yourself holding the golden (yellow) ticket.
Let us know in this article’s comments how you would spend the cash and we’ll share a few below.
“2025 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing, 6 speed manual, metallic blue. Wife's in charge of the rest!”
“Buy a baby elephant.”
“Buy a supermarket, a doctor's surgery, a vet clinic and a dentist practice, so my family wouldn't have to pay.”
“$40m is too much for one person so, if I was to win it, a lot would go back to the community and there would be plenty of donations. Schools, community groups, Wellington Children’s Hospital, sport groups, St Johns and I'd probably buy my lunch for the first time a long time.”
“Buy an island, make my own country, my own language, my own laws. LONG LIVE KING DANIEL OF DANIELTOPIA! I'd also buy some butter.”
“After paying off the mortgage and student loans, there might be a couple of dollars left for a new dog and an old Hilux.”
