The most-watched films and TV shows on Air New Zealand in 2024

Monday, 23 December 2024

The Beekeeper is now screening in select cinemas nationwide.

Despite 2024 being the year “raw dogging” became a trend on flights, many people still watched movies and TV shows to pass the time while flying.

Air New Zealand customers proved they like a bit of adrenaline-fuelled entertainment at 30,000 feet, with Jason Statham’s action thriller The Beekeeper being the most-watched movie on its inflight entertainment for 2024.

The airline has released its top ten most-watched films and television shows customers selected when they weren’t watching the flight map or sleeping.

Romantic comedy Anyone But You starring Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell came in second, but it’s clear customers preferred a fast-paced flick to help the time fly by, with films like Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes and The Fall Guy dominating the list of top movies.

For younger flyers, Bluey held onto its crown as the most-watched TV show for the second year running, almost double the views of the next most-watched, Peppa Pig. For the adults, sitcom staples The Big Bang Theory and Friends were passengers’ favourites.

Air New Zealand general manager customer experience Kylie McGillivray-Brown said it was great to see customers making the most of their time in the air.

“Whether it’s diving into a blockbuster thriller, laughing along with a sitcom, or keeping the little ones entertained with their favourite shows, our selection ensures there’s something for everyone.

“Air New Zealand’s inflight entertainment proves the best journeys come with a side of screen time.”
