Best coffee in Wellington? (and what's your order? with or without a pastry?)

Peoples Coffee in Newtown. First coffee of the morning is a long black. If I have a second it's a flat white. No pastry.

Best place to people watch?

I try not to watch people in the vain hope it stops people watching me. If I walk up the Terrace to La Cloche I’m bound to meet someone there or along the way who wants to share a tip with an opposition MP.

Where to for an early evening wine/whisky/whatever?

Puffin is good for a wine and there is a small courtyard out the back where you can have a quiet conversation without interruption.

Best kid friendly menu/restaurant?

I have a 10-year-old daughter who loves the sushi train at Kazu Sushi. The novelty of the food cycling past never seems to wear off.

Best Indian?

Kera-la-carte in Courtenay Place. The staff are very friendly and the South Indian curries seem more diverse and differently flavoured than what I’ve struck before.

And fave neighbourhood bistro?

Brooklyn
Brooklyn's Salty Pidgin cafe.

I love the Salty Pidgin in Brooklyn. That’s my local. The menu is simple but done well and with enough specials for variety. Going there feels both comfortable and a treat at the same time.
