Person dies after car and truck collide on Napier's Marine Parade

A driver has died at the scene of a crash in Napier, police say.
Stuff understands the driver was a man. Motorists were asked to avoid a section of Marine Pde in Napier after the serious crash between a truck and a car, however by 9.15pm roads had reopened.
The collision occurred between Edwardes and Sale streets and was reported about 11.15am on Thursday.

One lane was blocked for the majority of Thursday due to the crash. The Serious Crash Unit was investigating.
A St John Ambulance spokesperson earlier said one person had been taken to Hawke's Bay Hospital in a serious condition.
A cyclist was killed on Marine Parade in October last year.
Another person died after the car they were travelling in hit a tree on Marine Parade in April 2019.
Thursday's crash is not the first serious collision to occur in Hawke's Bay during the past few months.
A woman died in Hawke's Bay Hospital in March following a two-car crash at the intersection of Tollemache Road East and Park Road South in Hastings.
Toni Buckthought died in a crash between a car and truck in Hawke's Bay in early April.
Emergency services were called to the crash on Berry Rd in Te Pohue, a small settlement on State Highway 5.
