You Pick A Side: Should you thank drivers for stopping at a pedestrian crossing?

Stuff’s weekly series dives into the everyday topics that get people talking.
Each week, we’ll put up a simple question, make the case for both sides, and let you decide.

So … pick a side.
Yes - give a wave
The little thank-you wave is one of life's simplest acts of kindness. Sure, drivers have to stop at pedestrian crossings, but a quick smile or raised hand says, 'Cheers, I appreciate it.' It costs nothing, takes half a second and makes the roads feel a little friendlier. Let's keep the good vibes rolling.
No - save it
Drivers don't deserve a gold star for following the road rules. Stopping at a pedestrian crossing isn't a favour – it's the law. Pedestrians have enough to think about without worrying whether they've remembered to wave. Keep your eyes on the traffic, cross safely and carry on. If you want to thank someone, save it for the driver who stops when they didn't have to.
