The line-up for Wellington’s first-ever Ultra New Zealand festival has grown even bigger, with organisers dropping a second wave of artists ahead of next month’s sold-out event.

International performers Alison Wonderland, NGHTMRE, Pendulum and Ray Volpe are among the latest additions to the one-day dance music festival on April 10.

They join previously announced headliners The Chainsmokers, DJ Snake, Zedd, Darren Styles, Nico Moreno, Oliver Heldens, Marlo and Miss Monique.

The festival is the first of its kind in New Zealand, and will take over the capital’s waterfront across four stages featuring EDM, house, techno, trance, drum and bass and bass music.

The sold-out event is expected to attract 20,000 fans, with about half travelling from outside Wellington, bringing with them a much-needed boost for the city after the loss of long-time waterfront favourite Homegrown.

The new drop also includes supporting acts Hi-Lo, Rebuke, Rivo, Imanu, Kaaze, Marten Horger, Mollie Collins, Mt Eden, Quix, Flowidus, Fatima Hjji and Sudley.

Wellington-based talent includes Broderbeats, Joey Ilah and Paige Julia, while Kiwi acts Repair, In:Motion, Lenni Vibe, Pixie Lane and Twofold have also been confirmed.

While the festival is partially funded by the Government’s “Major Events Boost Fund”, New Zealand promoter Audiology Touring has partnered with ULTRA Worldwide and WellingtonNZ to bring the festival to the capital.

Founder of Audiology Touring, Mitch Lowe, said the second phase line-up brought together global names and emerging local talent.

“We’ve been working together with ULTRA to curate a line-up that appeals to dance music fans of all generations – festivalgoers can expect old favourites as well as brand new beats,” Lowe said.

WellingtonNZ events and experiences general manager Heidi Morton said visitors were being encouraged to explore the city while in town for the festival.

“With half of all ticket holders visiting from out of town, and the excitement of a brand-new global event coming to Wellington, it’s a fantastic chance to experience everything the city has to offer.”
