This page records apologies, corrections and significant clarifications made to published stories on Stuff. It does not include minor changes or updates.

June 2026

• This story has been updated to clarify the Government’s position on China’s “one China policy”.

May 2026

• This story has been updated after a witness to a crash changed what they said about who was in one of the cars.

• This story has been updated to clarify attribution regarding a Facebook post.

• This story has been updated to correct the number of children Paul Finlay had, along with the spelling of his wife’s name.

• This story has been updated to correct the type of car the woman was driving before falling down a manhole.

• This story has been updated to correct delays in curriculum changes.

• This story was amended to show Dianne Sharma-Winter's monthly accommodation, food and medical costs were around $600 and not $300. The visa runs were also very three months and not six months as reported.

• A clarification was added to this column to explain that there were additional entry pathways to New Zealand under the terms of the Free Trade Agreement.

• This story was amended because the original version included inaccurate references to the ARL life membership status of several individuals. The paragraph in question has been removed.

• This story has been updated to correct the year the woman had her initial horse riding accident.

April 2026

• This story was amended because the original version neglected to state that Public Trust also identified that significant sums were paid to others from joint funds, raising further questions about whether the vulnerable woman understood and agreed to those transactions. Her welfare guardian subsequently pointed out that the money, that was paid from a joint account, was to purchase a house she now lives in.

• This story was updated after initially saying that bus drivers were on Immigration’s Green List. They are not.

• This story was updated to describe the police employee involved as a staffer rather than an officer.

• This story has been updated to correct the year in which the Manuka Doctor Arena is set to have a new roof installed.

• Two stories - this one and this one - have been updated to correct the age of one of two boys who died in the Bay of Plenty after police revised their information.

• This story has been updated to correct the number of road deaths over the Easter break.

• This story has been updated as Car Expert issues a correction to the prices of two vehicles mentioned.

March 2026

• This story has been updated to clarify the court judgment provided an expectation, not a requirement, that land sale proceeds would be used to service debt following the land’s reclassification.

• This story has been updated to show a doctor’s registration was cancelled rather than suspended.

• This story has been updated to show medical costs also contributed to the food budget being less.

• This story has been updated and clarified following confirmation that Airbnb wasn’t involved.

• This story has been updated following confirmation by police about the nature of the event.

• This story has been clarified to say the fine was related to packaging of the toy, rather than about the toy’s safety itself.

• A story has been updated after suggesting the couple went to Europe on holiday in December 2019. It was December 2025.

• This story has been updated. It showed quote marks around the term 'double-dipping' which could have been read as a direct quote from the minister. This was incorrect.

February 2026

• This article, published on February 24, was updated after it initially said Trump ‘mocked’ the US women’s hockey team. While some may interpret it that way, the language was too strong and was replaced with ‘spoke about’.

• Two stories - one on February 17 and another on February 23 - initially featured incorrect figures regarding the total worth of Teaching Council contracts awarded to Celemger UnLtd. The figures have since been corrected.

• An article published on February 11 has been updated to reflect new clarification from police.

• An article published on February 9 has been updated to correct information about the fotrnightly payment for couples receiving NZ Superannuation.

• An article published on February 7 has been updated to correct information about a store’s decline, explaining the problem in transactions rather than dollars.

• An article published on February 2 has been updated to correct the years Brice and Karen Gordon worked at Zorro Ranch.

January 2026

• An article published on January 30 was updated to correct the name of part of the suspension system in Tesla vehicles, from buckle ball joint to knuckle ball joint.

• An article published on January 29 has been updated to correct the statement from the family of a Mount Maunganui landslide victim.

• The headline on this story said “deaths” in the Russia-Ukraine war could soon hit 2 million. This has been corrected to “casualties”.

• The headline on this story said a fatal ICE shooting may have been triggered by a misfire. But the story spoke about a negligent discharge. It has been updated. It was published on January 26.

• A comment piece published on January 22 said teaspoon of gold was equivalent to 2 grams. This was wrong. The story has been updated. You can see it here.

• An article published on January 15 said firearms were seized in a police search.

• An article published on January 12 said Yoyoso was a Korean brand. It is Chinese.

• An article published on January 8 has been updated to clarify there was one RSE worker found dead at a Bay of Plenty property, not two - and that the other was a visitor.

• An article published on January 15 has been updated to expand who new UK passport rules apply to.

• An article published on January 26 has been updated to correct the name of the employer the PTS officer worked for.

December 2025

• An article published on December 9 has been updated to give the correct location of a property fire, in Coromandel Town.

• An article published on December 3 has been updated to say the flight would be the longest operating in the world, rather than the longest of all time.

• An article published on December 1 has been updated to say the rider was fleeing, not that a police pursuit was under way.

November 2025

• A clarification was published on November 21 in relation to information about the criminal history of Robert Purchase included in reports published on October 8, 9 and 17.

• An article published on November 17 was updated to correct the name of a Scotty Morrison karakia.

• An article published on November 15 was updated to clarify the wording of parental obligations in the Family Protection Act.

• An article published on November 11 was updated to provide the correct classification under New Zealand law of four drugs subject to an incoming driver roadside testing regime.

• A column published on November 13 suggested that a think tank, the NZ Initiative, had commented on the removal of a clause regarding the Treaty of Waitangi and how schools are governed. This has been updated.

October 2025

• An article published on October 16 said Jim Bolger became a minister in 1972. It was 1977.

• An article published on October 16 has been updated to say the 2024 decision to allow a US conservative commentator into NZ was made by the associate minister of immigration, not an official.

• An article published on October 7 said a new supermarket would be constructed to the same standards as those used by emergency service buildings. It is instead being constructed to a lower standard.

• An article published on October 2 said the winning throw in the F46 shot put final was 12.88m. It was 13.07m.

September 2025

• An article published on September 18 has been edited to describe accurately the systems of the FSD (Supervised) system in Tesla vehicles.

• An opinion piece published on September 28 has been updated to make it clear the majority of public spending has been frozen.

• An article published on September 19 said a property was on the market for a set price. Instead, it was to be sold at auction.

• An article published on September 17 said the latest poll showed NZ First polling ahead of both ACT and the Greens. The poll only showed NZ First polling ahead of ACT.

• An article published on September 16 was corrected after an earlier version said a man had been shot. He was injured with another weapon.

• An article published on September 10 has been updated with the correct age of the alleged offender after police initially provided incorrect information.

• An article published on September 9 has been updated with the correct job title for the LGNZ chief executive.

• An article published on September 1 was updated to reflect how the body of a man found at a beach was identified by police, but his identity was not revealed to the public at the time of publishing.

August 2025

• A story published on August 21 misstated David Byrne’s age. He is 73, not 77.

• A story published on August 12 was updated to include mention of documents released by Israel purporting to show a journalist killed by the IDF was part of Hamas’ armed wing.

• A story published on August 10 incorrectly said there was around $8.5m of cash in circulation over the past four years. It also said there are 226,156 - instead of over 226 million - notes in circulation.

• A story published on August 6 initially said an artwork was valued at $60,000, when the correct figure was around $100,000.

• A story published on August 4 was updated to specify that one of the complainants was a woman.

• A story published on August 3 initially said Zane Robertson had the rape charge against him dropped. Robertson faced an initial allegation which was subsequently dropped and he was not charged.

July 2025

• An opinion piece published on July 23 has been updated to acknowledge that Dame Jacinda Ardern did not visit New Zealand to promote her book.

• A story published on July 21 said six people were partially buried in an avalanche. There were six people in the group, but only four buried.

• A story published on July 15 incorrectly identified a farmer as Jamie Huvinton; his family name is Hovenden.

• A story published on July 11 said a crash in Christchurch was on Thursday. It was on Friday.

• A story published on July 11 called ‘Two chicks from Waikato’ launch AI-powered blood test analysis platform Marko’ has been retracted. There were a number of claims that were not independently verified.

• A story published on July 9 referred to data for children aged 0-8, when it should have said 0-18. The time period was for the year to June 30, 2024, not March 2024.

• A story published on July 8 has been updated to include that German vascular surgeon Dr Wilhelm Sandmann, who will operate on Amelia Turner in August, has been charged with negligent homicide, and a statement from the Vascular Society of Aotearoa about Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (HEDS).

• A story published on July 4 has been amended as the Office of Early Childhood Education (OECE) provided updated figures to the teacher extended parity earnings.

• A story published on July 3 has been amended to clarify that the $15 Everyday Rewards voucher is issued when a member reaches 2000 points, which can be earned in a variety of ways and is not necessarily tied to a specific spend amount.

• A story published on July 1 incorrectly said a new species of spider was poisonous; it is venomous.

June 2025

• A story published on June 30 incorrectly said Auckland transport fares were changing on July 1; the increase was introduced in February.

• A story published on June 27 has been amended to clarify that participation in this year’s Big Sleepout is limited to business and community leaders, and other well-known people.

• We added an editor’s notes to story published on June 27 to clarify the source of the claims regarding missing people in Palestine.

• A story published on June 13 has been updated to clarify the $21,060 figure was in taxable benefits, not necessarily the full amount of tax that would be owed; and that the IRD is still consulting on the proposal.

• A story published on June 13 was updated to correct the total amount Kāinga Ora spent on meth decontamination between January 2020 and April 2025.

• A story published on June 5 suggested nuclear fusion does not produce radioactive waste, that waste produced by fission needs to be stored forever and that stable fusion has been impossible. These sentences have been amended.

• A story published on June 5 said an Ōpōtiki man breached his curfew to rescue a horse, but he had sought and received approval to do so beforehand.

• A story published on June 4 incorrectly said Michael Forbes had worked for the Manawatū Standard. He was a branch reporter for the Dominion Post in Manawatu.

• A column published on June 1 incorrectly said Australia hadn’t had a budget surplus since 2007.

May 2025

• A video and story published on Friday, May 30 related to a ‘delivery driver eating food which was intended for a customer’ was deliberately fabricated to mislead, and despite attempts to verify it, our checks fell short. Once confirmed as fake, we retracted the video from Stuff. This action should have been noted here earlier and was not. We apologise for that.

• The headline on a story published on May 30 has been updated to remove the suggestion that Rocket Lab will build a missile defence system as part of the deal.

• A story published on May 25 incorrectly attributed reported to speech to property manager Liam Erickson.

• A story published on May 19 suggested data provided by Hospitality NZ related directly to Wellington. The data supplied was at a national level.

• A story published on May 14 updated the spelling Hana Maipi-Clarke’s name and clarified a sentence to better reflect the events in the House.

• A story published on May 5 included a comparison of Air NZ-Jetstar prices on flights from Christchurch to Queenstown, which Jetstar does not fly directly.

April 2025

• A story published on April 24 said Heath Ledger was a US actor. He was Australian.

• A story published on April 11 was updated to state that Willie Apiata is New Zealand’s most-decorated living war hero.

• A story published on April 11 was updated to correct the sentence handed down to someone convicted of arson.

• A story published on April 7 was updated to show the correct time of a fire in Ashburton.

• A story published on April 4 was updated with amended comments from the Phoenix Recycling.

• A story published on April 2 was updated to better define the economic boost from Wellington’s CubaDupa festival by showing the increase in spending rather than the total spend overall.

March 2025

• A story published on March 26 was updated to include David Seymour’s comments surrounding NCEA credits earned by students involved in last year’s campaign against the proposed cuts to the school lunch programme.

• A story published on March 26 said a Republican lawmaker mocked Texas governor Greg Abbott who uses a wheelchair. It was a Democrat lawmaker.

• A story published on March 25 said RNZ’s 6pm bulletin did not play in the South Island. It did not play nationwide.

• A story published on March 24 has been updated to clarify the nature of the Murupara house used by police and emergency staff to sleep.

• A story published on March 20 incorrectly stated the area where dead ducks had been found in Napier.

• A story published on March 12 said Aaron Drever began a 15 month jail sentence on Tuesday. It was Wednesday.

• A story published on March 10 said Santa Fe was in the US state of California. It is in New Mexico.

• A story published on March 9 has been updated with comment from hydro power station and dam operator Mercury.

February 2025

• A story published on February 25 has been updated with the correct percentage for the increase to off-peak fares for trains and buses.

• A story published on February 25 stated Samnic Forest Management Ltd had been put into receivership. It was Samnic Waingaromia Forest Joint Venture that was put into receivership.

• A story published on February 20, 2025 said the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) was carrying out a separate investigation relating to the alleged misuse of personal data. The SFO is instead liaising with police on their investigation.

January 2025

• A story published on January 30, 2025 said a man was nominated for the Global Teacher Prize. Instead, it was for the Local Hero Award.

• A story published on January 25, 2025 said a crash in Auckland took place in Ōtāhuhu. It was in Bombay.

• A story published on January 17, 2025 gave the fixed interest rate on a loan at 6%. New information received has meant we updated the story to state the fixed interest rate was 5%.

• A story published on January 16, 2025 named in full the mother of a young man injured in workplace accident. It was updated to her first name only to protect the identity of her son.

November 2024

• The headline on this live blog initially read: Watch: Gang member says police are coming down too hard on gangs. That has been changed to accurately reflect what Roka Dog said.

• A story published on November 25, 2024 said an iPhone had been “eaten” and “swallowed” by a tiger shark. The shark kept it inside its mouth and spat it out.

• A story published on November 23, 2024 said the lease at Johnsonville Shopping Centre for Scheckter’s Deli expired in August. It will expire in August 2025.

• A story published on November 18, 2024, has been updated to clarify Air NZ’s Dreamliners were grounded are due to Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines, however the airline is also enduring ongoing troubles due to the Pratt & Whitney engine troubles.

• A story published on November 1, 2024 suggested National MP Andrew Bayly was a Cabinet minister. He is not in Cabinet.

October 2024

• A story published on October 31, 2024 incorrectly said the Government’s inquiry into mental health and addiction took place in 2021. It was in 2018.

• A story published on October 30, 2024 incorrectly said a man had been paroled. He had been mistakenly released from custody.

• A story published on October 26, 2024 had been clarified to state that election officials that Donald Trump is intending to jail should he become President are those who are ‘corrupt’.

• A column published on October 20, 2024 by Damien Grant has been updated to clarify the complexities of some of the legal issues at play.

• A story published on October 18, 2024 incorrectly said the University of Otago had made a statement regarding the Russia and Ukraine conflict. The story has been updated to say that the statement was made by the Centre for Peace and Conflict.

• A story published on October 3, 2024 has been clarified to say labradors were the most common breed of pet dog, helping to explain the national cost of their injuries.

September 2024

• A story published on September 25, 2024 incorrectly said there will be special event buses from 120 Quay St near the Auckland Downtown Ferry Terminal for an event on Sunday.

• A story published on September 6, 2024 suggested there were bus and cycle lanes on Wakefield Street in Wellington. The story was clarified - the lanes are on nearby Cambridge Terrace.

• A story published on September, 13, 2024 incorrectly stated Tūroa ski area would reopen to the public on Sunday afternoon after a fatal ski incident. It will reopen on Sunday morning.

• A story published on September 26, 2024 incorrectly said Rolleston was a suburb of Christchurch. Rolleston is a town near Christchurch.

• A story published on September 25, 2024, has been updated to correct the description of communications with the women as outlined in the District Court judgment.

August 2024

• A story published on August 30, 2024 incorrectly said Allied Western Motors in Otautau was charging $4.50 for Unleaded 91.

• A story published on August 17, 2024 gave the impression that the architectural designer for the home featured was also the interior designer. The story was clarified to give credit where credit is due: The winning home interior was designed by ADNZ member Chris Wheeler of Hierarchy Group as reported, and the architectural design was by Casey Curtis of CA Architecture.

• A story published on August 9, 2024 said the original Lord of the Rings film grossed over $140m worldwide. It was over $1.4b.

• A story published on August 8, 2024 said Lachie Jones’s brother Jonathan Scott had left NZ. He had not left at time of publication.

• A story published on August 1, 2024 said PM Christopher Luxon had bought a property he was now selling, in 2007 for $373,000, according to property sales records. These records were incorrect. Luxon purchased the property in 2015 for $650,000.

• A story published on August 19, 2024 said 400 food packages distributed by the Auckland City Mission contained meth-laced lollies. That was incorrect. While 400 food packages were distributed investigations continue into how many included the affected lollies.

July 2024

• A story published on July 26, 2024 incorrectly referred to Main North Road in Christchurch as SH1.

• A story published on July 24, 2024 made reference to a “citizen’s arrest”, which is a legal term that may not have been applicable. It was removed.

• A story published on July 23, 2024 incorrectly said a GoFundMe page for Te Anau toddler Luka Pascoe raised $200,000. The page raised $60,000 and the communities of Te Anau and Invercargill raised $140,000 from fundraising events.

June 2024

• A story published on June 17, 2024 incorrectly said Huhana Hickey sits on the Waitangi Tribunal, instead of the Human Rights Review Tribunal.

• A story published on June 14, 2024 initially included incorrect biographical information about a man allegedly killed when hit by a police car.

• A story published on June 5, 2024 included Covid case numbers from the Ministry of Health that were incorrect. The story has been updated to reflect the corrected figure.

• A story published on June 1, 2024 has been updated to clarify that Christopher Tett the fact has been sentenced on one charge of assault in the years since his drug-related offending. This offending was never reported on at the time but has been clarified since this story was first published.

May 2024

• A story published on May 21, 2024 has been updated to clarify who was quoted as describing a “sharp pain” during the airport incident involving Liz Gunn.

• A story published on May 17, 2024 gave a wrong first name for a golf club counsel.

• A story published on May 11, 2024 about the need for sign language interpreters in Southland incorrectly said the former interpreter had died. This is not the case.

• A story published on May 9, 2024 quoted the prime minister as saying the budget for Nelson Hospital had changed. He said neither the budget, nor the bed count had changed.

• A story published on May 3, 2024 incorrectly stated that Brad Shipton was convicted of Louise Nicholas' rape. He was accused but never found guilty of raping Nicholas.

• A story published on May 1, 2024 incorrectly said Maritime New Zealand laid charges in May 2022. Charges were filed in March 2022, however the defendants didn't appear in court until May.

April 2024

• A story published on April 11, 2024 incorrectly stated that TVNZ was axing its youth-focused platform Re:News. It is instead only cutting staff. The story has been updated.

• A story published on April 11, 2024 about the media cuts left out Te Karere, TVNZ’s daily te reo broadcast. This has been updated to include this information.

• A story published on April 4, 2024 has been clarified with Wellington City Council supplied data removed after calculation errors were found.

• A story published on April 4, 2024, has been updated. It related to Auckland developers and their claims of share offers. The update deals with those claims.

• A story published on April 7, 2024 has been corrected. An earlier version incorrectly stated that a van had been shot 50 times.

• A story published on April 17, 2024 has been corrected. An earlier version incorrectly stated that a the plan for a carkpark happened during former Mayor Tenby Powell’s tenure.

March 2024

• A story published on March 18, 2024 incorrectly said a 1864 bank note was from 1968.

• A story published on March 12, 2024 has been amended to clarify the breakdown of funding for a housing development in Ōmokoroa.

• A story published on March 13, 2024 was amended to clarify that in the example of Jordie Barrett’s red card, he would be replaced by another player after 20 minutes rather than being allowed to return to the field.

• A story published on March 13, 2024 has been clarified to make clear an area up for accommodation rental was once part of a pub, but was not anymore.

January 2024

• A story published in January 25, 2024 about teenager runner Abby O’Boyle incorrectly called her Abby O’Brien.

• A story published on January 29, 2024 has been corrected to say proceeds from the sale of the St Lukes site will go towards restoration of Christ Church Cathedral.

• A story published on January 11, 2024 has been corrected after earlier saying MDF board contained arsenic.

• A story published on December 18, 2023 initially said Gregory Pask was named a Kiwibank New Zealand Local Hero of the Year in 2016, that was incorrect. He was one of the local hero medalists. The story was amended on January 19, 2024.

December 2023

• A story published on December 16, 2023 has been clarified to give more specific details about a supermarket lamb price.

• A story published on December 15, 2023 has been updated to say the property's covenant could be negotiated.

• A story published on December 9, 2023 has been clarified to say a disputes panel did not say a retirement village operator falsely claimed a suite was empty. It did say that it did not tell the family it was retenanted when asked. The operator said when it discovered it had been charging two residents over the same period, it voluntarily refunded the money. The panel noted that the resident was found wandering and caused a flood, but did not say he was in danger.

• A story published on December 11, 2023 stated documents were released to Stuff under the Official Information Act; they were released under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act (LGOIMA).

• A story published on December 9, 2023 incorrectly said two Taranaki iwi invaded Rēkohu during the land wars; it was during the musket wars. This story also reported that Winston Peters said the 'last few Moriori died in 1936' when he said 'the last pure Moriori died in 1936'. This was due on a subscription error in parliament.

• A story published on December 7, 2023 has been amended from an earlier version that said the Gore District Council was a current member of RiskPool.

• A story published on December 6, 2023 says Brian Laundrie's body was found at a nature preserve, after an initial version of the story said his body was found at his Florida home.

• A story published on December 1, 2023 has removed Whakarongorau Aotearoa (telehealth operator) from the list of government departments expected to be affected by a rebranding exercise.

November 2023

• A story published on November 29, 2023 has been corrected to describe a business partner of a convicted fraudster as a partner, after the initial reporting of a lawyer's comments made in-court said she was his wife.

• A story published on November 27, 2023 has been updated from an earleir version that referred to 2022 Stats NZ data.

• A story published on November 24, 2023 stated that a particular person visited a house connected with Baby Ru's death late at night. There is uncertainty as to who it was.

• A story published on November 23, 2023 incorrectly said the Te Anau facility is managed by Invercargill Airport. However, some staff from Milford Sound Airport also have roles at Te Anau Airport Manapouri.

• A story published on November 16, 2023 said Coastguard Nelson was involved in the rescue, but it was the Nelson harbourmaster vessel and crew.

• A story published on November 8, 2023 incorrectly referred to the New Zealand Game Animal Council as the New Zealand Game Animal Association.

October 2023

• A quiz published on October 30, 2023 said that GPs undergo speciality training to become ophthalmologists. This was amended to medical doctors.

• A story published on October 26, 2023 said a Taranaki 1000mw offshore wind project would create 320 jobs, but the correct figure is about 190 jobs.

• A story published on October 19, 2023 incorrectly stated the Auckland Museum had approached Vector lights requesting they light up in support of Israel. The museum had asked Vector lights whether they would.

• A story published on October 19, 2023 has been updated to say NZ First has three women MPs, not two as initially reported.

• A story published on October 16, 2023 has been updated to more accurately report the severity of the Hamas massacre in Israel after an earlier version of the article understated the magnitude of the attack because it was based on initial breaking news reports.

• A story published on October 12, 2023 said people who had visited Cuba in the previous 10 years would require a B2 visa; it is only visitors since January 12 2021.

• A story published on October 10, 2023 has been amended to say the All Blacks have been underdogs in five of their 359 games since the NZ TAB first offered sports betting odds in 1996, not four as mentioned in an earlier version of this story. The fifth occasion was when they beat the Springboks in Johannesburg last year.

• A story published on October 8, 2023 said NZSki has 70,000 skiers and 500 staff. NZSki actually has 700,000 skiers per annum and employs 1500 staff.

• A story published on October 7, 2023 says ACT does not have a policy to stop the Winter Energy Payment as was first reported, and also has caveats around its support for indexing CPI to inflation.

• A story published on October 5, 2023 said two brothers had to pay $1.5 million in legal costs to John McLaughlin. The correct figure is $456,000.

September 2023

• A story published on May 2, 2023 said Dallas Gurney was part of the staff axed when Today FM closed. Gurney quit before the show was axed.

• A story published on May 2, 2023 incorrectly said the 4000sqm site was 400sqm.

April 2023

• A story published on April 29, 2023 incorrectly stated that the Integrated Data Infrastructure IDI was known as RealMe.

• A story published on April 27, 2023 has had its headline corrected to say Jasmine Hartin gave Henry Jemmott a shoulder massage on the pier, after an earlier version said Jemmott had given Hartin the massage.

• A story published on April 27, 2023 said Sean Plunket had been charged with publishing court proceedings without leave of the court. The charges are publishing a report of Family Court proceedings, including identifying information about a person, without leave of the court.

• A story published on April 27, 2023 incorrectly reported that the Reserve Bank was taking no immediate enforcement action against ANZ and the potential outcome remained uncertain. In fact the Reserve Bank is not taking any further action.

• A story published on April 27, 2023 says a man was injured in Manurewa, after earlier reporting based on information provided by police said the incident was in Pakuranga.

• A story published on April 26, 2023 conflated Auckland Council spending on upgrading facilities with central government funding. It also reported the All Blacks were playing a Rugby Championship game in London.

• A story published on April 25, 2023 corrects the spelling of Joh Hurihanganui's surname.

• A story published on April 19, 2023 about a workplace accident had the incorrect date for the incident, which happened in April 2021.

• A story published on April 19, 2023 incorrectly called the Southland Regional Council the Southland District Council.

• A story published on April 14, 2023 incorrectly stated the purpose of religious charity Trinity Lands.

• A story published on April 17, 2023 says applications for a scholarship close at midnight May 15, after an earlier version gave the wrong date.

• A story published on April 14, 2023 said SPCA CEO Gabby Clezy had resigned five months into the job. She has been in the role for seven months.

• A story published on April 13, 2023 said Waitaha Primary Health was funding the project on behalf of Te Whatu Ora. South Link Health Group is actually funding the project.

• A story published on April 10, 2023 incorrectly stated that Fix and Fogg and Leeds St Bakery are still open in Wellington.

• An opinion article published on April 7, 2023 said that Jacinda Ardern had signed up with a business called the Speaker Booking Agency for corporate speaking engagements. Her inclusion on the agency's website has since been identified as a hoax.

• A story published on April 10, 2023 stated the New Plymouth District Council was reviewing service levels, including the mowing of parks being reduced, a Venture Taranaki funding cut and the Home Energy Advisory Service being stopped. That review has taken place and the council recommended those items not be reduced or stopped.

• An opinion piece published on April 8, 2023 stated Chris Bishop paid for the Stuart Nash documentary out of his own salary. It was paid out of the leader's office budget. It also incorrectly attributed Chris Bishop as saying 'National on Air'.

• A story published on April 7, 2023 said the vast majority of WWII medals were never claimed. It's estimated about 15% of these medals were not claimed.

• An opinion piece published on April 5, 2023 has been altered to correct the impression that choosing seats when booking online with Air New Zealand is mandatory. This step can be skipped and a seat be automatically allocated at no cost.

• A story published on April 4, 2023 says Elsie Talbot won bronze at Maadi Cup, rather than gold as earlier reported.

• An opinion piece published on April 4, 2023 incorrectly stated that you cannot pay for buses in Wellington with cash.

Original publisher Newsroom has apologised for their error.

• A story published on March 24, 2023 has been clarified to say a Ministry of Housing and Urban Development report was commissioned from independent researchers.

• A story published on March 24, 2023 reported the weekly superannuation payment to a couple from April 1, but incorrectly stated that it was the fortnightly sum.

• A story published on March 23, 2023 referred to Peter Gorringe's children, Romiley and Ashley, as his daughters. Ashley is his son.

• A story published on March 20, 2023 has been updated to acknowledge that the purse offered wasn't the biggest in the Southern Hemisphere.

• A story published on March 19, 2023 incorrectly said the Ōrākei Local Board refused to raise rates at the Okahu Bay Hardstand. Rates slightly increased following a local board meeting in November 2018. It also incorrectly described a trimaran as being 10 feet long. It is 10 metres long.

• A story published on February 24, 2023 said the seats used for Economy Stretch have always had a seat pitch of 89cm. Following clarification from Air NZ, the story has been updated to reflect that six of the aircraft were retrofitted between 2019 and 2022 to introduce the extra legroom seats, and they have been progressively returning to service since February 2022.

• A story published on February 21, 2023 said Porirua City Council was to vote on resuming paid parking in the city centre. The council is voting on changes to the system for paid parking.

• A story published on December 25, 2022 said two Air New Zealand pilots were working on Christmas Day. That reporting was based on information from Air New Zealand. The pilots did not work on Christmas Day, but worked over the Christmas period. Air New Zealand has apologised for the error.

• A documentary published on August 14, 2022 said Amy Benjamin resigned from AUT after the interview in which she claimed the Christchurch mosque attacks were a false flag. She resigned before that statement.

• A story published on December 19, 2022 was updated to clarify the charges faced by the teenager.

• A story published on December 16, 2022 said Wellington City Council will use the Infrastructure Funding and Financing Act 2020 to fund the project. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, which administers this fund, says it has not yet received a proposal.

• A story published on November 28, 2022 says a series of work in the Te Au – Liquid Constituencies exhibition exploring low-tech, low-cost solutions to intensified agriculture was produced by a collective called Te Waituhi ā Nuku: Drawing Ecologies, a collective, not just Huhana Smith as suggested in an earlier version of this story.

• A story published on September 27, 2022 about the Government passing a birth injuries law wrongly titled the Accident Compensation Corporation as the Accident Compensation Commission.

• An opinion article published on September 24, 2022 said that only one of the recommendations from the Francis Report into Parliament's workplace culture had been implemented. The Parliamentary Service advises that about 80% of its recommendations have been implemented, including appointing an independent commissioner for parliamentary standards, which the article said was still only a recommendation.

• A story published on September 24, 2022 has been updated after an earlier version said Tracy Washburn took out a restraining order against Tim Boyd. While she did seek a restraining order, this was not granted and the case was dismissed. Boyd was later, in 2018, subject to a three-day temporary restraining order relating to a different girlfriend. Boyd alleges this was a false accusation

• A story published on September 5, 2022 said the clip-on cycle bridge over the Wairau River came in $1.6 million under budget. It was in fact completed for less than its original $1.6 million budget.

• A story published on September 6, 2022 said the proposed closure on the Taranaki coast will cover 300 square metres of sea. The closure will cover 300 square kilometres of sea.

• A story published on September 6, 2022 said Tony and Daniel Murray were Air New Zealand's first ever parent-child co-pilots, based on information provided by the airline. The story has amended to clarify the Murrays were the airline's first parent-child co-pilots for the Q300 aircraft.

• An opinion piece published on September 5, 2022 included a $11 billion figure cited by Danyl Mclauchlan. The cost of the reform programme, on its own, would need to be tallied across multiple years of appropriations, but will be much lower than $11b.

• A story published on August 31, 2022 initially said Nairn experienced chest pains, but in fact it was described as 'fluttering' in his chest.

• A story published on August 31, 2022 said shops between 50m² and 99m² paid $50 to $100 per year for background music, and bars of the same size $800 per year. A gym paid $1.59 per member a year. Incorrect information was provided on this.

• A story published on August 30, 2022 said Jerico Dytioco flew Singapore Airlines from Dubai. The story has been updated to say Dytioco flew Vistara airlines.

In 2017, Walmsley's sentence was reduced to 19 years' imprisonment after the Court of Appeal reduced the number of convictions to 26.

Hide has disputed this and said he opposed co-governance.

• A story published on April 1, 2022 incorrectly said the Maadi Cup had been transferred to Lake Ruataniwha from Lake Karapiro. The event transferred to Lake Ruataniwha was the national championships.

• A story published on February 17, 2022 says PAYT collections of a 120L bin in Auckland costs $12.50, not $31.25 per collection as originally reported.

• A story published on February 16, 2022 says the SH45 bridge over the Heimama Stream was not damaged by flooding and remains safe to use, correcting reporting which said otherwise.

• A story published on February 16, 2022 says a new Auckland food scraps collection service will begin in 2023, not this year as originally reported.

• A story published on February 8, 2022 said the Law Society was appealing against the penalty given to a lawyer found guilty of misconduct charges. The National Standards Committee 1 is the body appealing against the penalty.

• A story published on February 8, 2022 said a cancer patient had an MRI scan. This has been updated to NMR.

• A story published on February 7, 2022 said that one staff member from Thursday’s Mt Eden prison attack was admitted to an intensive care unit. Corrections clarified the staff member was admitted to hospital, but not intensive care.

• A story published on February 2, 2022 said a vote on a rent freeze in Wellington passed “unanimously”. Two councillors voted against the rent freeze.

• A story published on February 3, 2022 said jury trials had stagnated for five months at courts across the country. They were adjourned in Northland, Auckland and Waikato, but continued to run in areas at alert level 2.

• An editorial published on February 2, 2022 has been amended to clarify in the fourth paragraph, that the average rate per stream paid by Spotify to its artists is $US 0.004 (0.4 cents).

• A story published on January 31, 2022 says an exhibition of Andris Apse will run until February 27, a period of several weeks, rather than just February 4-7 as first reported.

• A story published on January 31, 2022 referred to the Ministry of Social Development as paying over market rate for private rentals and linked to an article from the Auditor General criticising the practice. The department says this is not reflective of how the emergency housing system works now.

• A story published on January 30, 2022 says the unemployment rate is calculated as a percentage of the labour force, not as a percentage of the resident working-age population, as first reported.

• A story published on January 28, 2022 says only 3.5%, or 122,000sqkm, of the exclusive economic zone has been trawled, not has been left untouched, as was first reported.

The research could provide forecasts, but not predictions of volcanic activity.

• A story published on January 15, 2022 incorrectly referred to Reverend Henry Williams as a bishop.

• A story published on January 13, 2022 had the reported figures for PCR and rapid antigen tests in New South Wales around the wrong way.

• A story published on Janurary 13, 2022 incorrectly reported that 2degrees was partnering with Nokia rather than Ericsson for its 5G network.

• A story published on January 12, 2022 said, due to incorrect information provided, Geraldine was the only population on the east coast of the South Island to have long-tailed bats. There is also a known population in the Caitlins.

• An obituary published on January 8, 2022 has been updated. Corballis was supervised at McGill by Professor Dalbir Bindra, not Donald Hebb, who was the chair of the department.

• A story published on January 7, 2022 stated 588 people had required hospital care since the start of the pandemic. This figure relates to people with Covid-19 in hospital during the Delta community outbreak.

• A story published on January 4, 2022 attributed a Covid-related study to the CDC. The research was actually carried out by a team of scientists based mostly in New Zealand, and was published by the CDC.
